  • Never install remote access applications at the request of callers claiming to be from SBI.
  • Verify all communications using SBI’s official customer care channels.

SBI also advises customers to be alert to phishing attempts, fake KYC messages, and fraudulent websites designed to steal banking credentials.

If Your Debit Card Has Been Compromised

Block your debit card immediately using:

  • SBI Customer Care
  • YONO SBI
  • Internet Banking
  • Your nearest SBI branch

If using Internet Banking, you can block your debit card through e-Services → ATM Card Services → Block ATM Card, after which SBI generates a ticket number confirming the request.

Keep These Reference Numbers Safe

Maintain a record of:

  • Cyber Helpline (1930) complaint number
  • SBI complaint number
  • Bank reference number
  • Cyber Crime Portal acknowledgement
  • FIR or police complaint number (if filed)

These may be required during follow-up with the bank or investigating authorities.

Remember

The sooner you report the fraud, the greater the opportunity for banks and investigating agencies to respond. Do not delay reporting, even if you are uncertain whether the transaction was fraudulent. Preserve all evidence, secure your account immediately, and continue monitoring your account for any further suspicious activity.
