🚨 MY BANK ACCOUNT HAS AN UNAUTHORISED TRANSACTION

Act immediately. Every minute can matter in a financial cyber fraud.

If you see a transaction that you did not make or authorise, treat it as urgent.

⚡ DO THIS NOW

1️⃣ Contact your bank immediately 🏦

Use the bank’s official app, website, branch, or customer-care number.

Tell them clearly:

“I have an unauthorised transaction and suspect cyber fraud.”

Ask the bank to take appropriate steps to secure your account and payment instruments and to investigate the transaction.

2️⃣ Call 1930 📞

If this is a financial cyber fraud in India, report it to the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 immediately.

Also submit a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

3️⃣ Preserve the transaction details 📸

Keep copies of:

  • Transaction ID / UTR
  • Date and time
  • Amount
  • Beneficiary/merchant details
  • Bank statement
  • SMS/email transaction alert
  • UPI ID or QR code, if applicable
  • Screenshots
  • Any related calls, messages, emails or WhatsApp chats

4️⃣ Secure your banking access 🔐

Depending on the circumstances and your bank’s advice:

  • Change your internet/mobile banking password.
  • Change your UPI PIN if you suspect it has been compromised.
  • Block or secure compromised cards.
  • Review beneficiaries and mandates.
  • Check for unfamiliar devices or login sessions.
  • Contact your mobile operator if you suspect SIM compromise.

🚫 DO NOT

❌ Make another payment to the fraudster
❌ Share another OTP or UPI PIN
❌ Give remote access to your phone/computer
❌ Trust someone who promises to recover your money for a fee
❌ Transfer money to a supposed “safe account”

💡 What about getting your money back?

Recovery is possible in some cases, but it is not automatic or guaranteed. The circumstances of the transaction, how quickly it was reported, and whether the funds can be traced or secured can all matter.

That’s why reporting immediately is critical.

📌 KEEP YOUR COMPLAINT RECORDS

Save your:

  • 1930 acknowledgement/reference
  • Cybercrime complaint number
  • Bank complaint/reference number
  • Emails and correspondence with the bank
  • Police complaint/FIR, where applicable

These records can be important if you need to follow up or pursue further remedies.

🛡️ REMEMBER

UNAUTHORISED TRANSACTION?

STOP → CALL YOUR BANK → 1930 → REPORT → PRESERVE EVIDENCE

Don’t wait until tomorrow. Report financial cyber fraud immediately.
